The main applet screen contains two main elements: the Family Tree, and the Information box.
The Family Tree appears in the lower portion of the screen and
displays a three-generation pedigree chart. The selected
name is highlighted and known information for that name (birth, marraige,
death dates & places) will appear in the Information Box at the top
of the screen. Arrow buttons appear on the right of the chart next to individuals
with a known mother and/or father, and to the left of the chart next to
individuals with at least one known child. These buttons allow the user
to move through the entire pedigree chart as desired. Names not visible
on the screen can also be accessed through the Family List button in the
Information Box (see below).
The Information Box appears at the top of the screen. It displays the name, birth, marriage, and death information, as available, on the individual currently selected in the Family Tree. Buttons appear in the right hand portion of the box which allow the user to view any other available information connected with the current name. These buttons include:
Children
This button displays a list of children for the selected name. Double click any name to make it the selected name or press Esc to return to the previously selected name. NOTE: an asterisk (*) next to a name in the list indicates an individual with at least one known child or spouse.Siblings
This button displays a list of children for the selected name. Double click on a name to select it or press Esc to return to the previously selected name. NOTE: an asterisk (*) next to a name in the list indicates an individual with at least one known child or spouse.Family List
This button displays a list of all names included in the current genealogy file. Double click on a name to select it, or press Esc to return to the previously selected name in the family tree.Spouses
This button displays a list of all known spouses for the selected person. It appears only when the file contains more than one spouse for the selected person. Double click on a name to select it or press Esc to return to the original name. NOTE: an asterisk (*) next to a name in the list indicates an individual with at least one known child.Written History
This button generates a window with a list of all available written history files for the selected person. Select a button to view the desired text, or cancel to return to the main applet.Pictures
This button generates a window with a list of all available picture files for the selected person. Select a button to view the desired picture, or cancel to return to the main applet.Family Group Sheet
This button displays a family group sheet in a new browser window for the selected person. A family group sheet allows the user to view a table containing birth, marriage, and death information on the selected person, their spouse, and any children of the marriage. Names of the parents of both spouses are included, when available. If the selected person has no spouse, the sheet will be blank.Print Pedigree
This button displays a pedigree chart in a new browser window, so the current pedigree chart can easily be printed.
